The number of new COVID-19 cases and deaths in Wichita County continue to rise sharply each week with 556 new cases reported for the week ending last Friday, as well as 10 new deaths.
On the first day of school last Thursday, 1857 students in the Iowa Park school district reported to class. By Monday the number was 1880, up 23 students. “We’ll probably gain another 10 students by the end of the week,” said Superintendent Steve Moody.
During a traffic stop at Victoria and Ruby at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, Alicia Arlt, 24, was taken into custody on a Wichita County warrant for surety of bond resist arrest/search/transport. She was transported to Wichita County jail.
Last Wednesday evening, First Baptist Church celebrated a summer of discipleship with a surprise visit from the Iowa Park Fire Department. Two of the church members, Nolan Clark and Al Fox, serve as volunteer firefighters for the Iowa Park Fire Department. They helped “blast” the children into the new school year by completely soaking them with a fire hose.
