The circus tradition returns to the city once again with The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, presenting the show “Greatest Show On Earth” (The Greatest Show on Earth).
On this occasion, the circus company performs in Houston as part of a national tour that transforms stadiums into an uninterrupted celebration of music full of energy, pop culture, vibrant colors, and astonishing acts.
It will run from August 6 to 9 at Reliant Stadium, until recently known as NRG Stadium.
The cast composing this show is from various parts of the world and among them comes the Spanish Ángel Muñoz Villa, who is part of the clown trio “Nick Nack, Paddy Wack, and Jeff.”
They are responsible for making the audience laugh with their appearances within the performance.

Ángel is the first artist in his family to work in a circus, and he says that during this time with the team, which is made up of about 65 artists from 17 different countries, in addition to the technical crew, he has lived a true experience being close to the audience, who dictate how his participation in the show unfolds.
“At the end of the day I feel fulfilled when I step onto the stage, when I go into the stands, when I interact with the audience and hear the laughter, or when at the end they tell me very good job. That makes me feel fulfilled and the audience’s response is immediate; if people laugh, we know it’s working and, if not, it’s a sign that something isn’t working the way we expect.”
The show they will bring to Houston carries the 150-year legacy of Ringling, and will feature its first musical collaboration with Maddox Batson, a young pop-country star. Her exclusive blend for Ringling fuses her modern country sound with the adrenaline of live circus performances.
“It’s a party for the whole family; we’re going to see circus tradition like the trapeze, clowns and other segments. You’ll see many innovations within the circus. In addition to the DJ who will be playing music that will sound familiar to both children and adults, we have a robot mascot and we have a giant screen to bring our performances closer to people in more detail.”
The artist also shared with us that the audience attending the circus becomes part of the show while they enjoy themselves.
“People, the moment they enter, also become part of the show, that’s the most beautiful part of the show. In some performances I have had to watch them from outside due to an injury, and what I have been able to see as an audience member has been that integration: the moment we sit in the seats we are not spectators, we are one more artist because there are moments of interaction and throughout the show the audience feels part of the show.”
