HOUSTON, Texas — The Houston Public Library will celebrate Hispanic Heritage with a free family event on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Jungman Neighborhood Library.
The activity, titled “Books Alive! with Kaela Rivera”, will focus on folklore, legends and myths and will include a book signing with author Kaela Rivera, children’s activities and a special presentation by Houston Aztec Dance.

Kaela Rivera will participate in a book signing
Rivera is the author of the young adult fantasy series “Cece Rios”, which incorporates elements of folklore and Mexican traditions into stories of adventure and magic.
The series began with “Cece Rios and the Desert of Souls” and continued with “Cece Rios and the King of Fears” and “Cece Rios and the Queen of Brujas”.
During the Houston event, families will have the opportunity to meet Rivera and participate in a book signing connected with the stories, legends and myths that are part of her work.
Houston Aztec Dance will have a special presentation
The program will also include a performance by Houston Aztec Dance, in addition to activities for children.
The combination of literature, dance and family activities is part of the Houston Public Library’s cultural programming around Hispanic Heritage.
The event will take place three days before the official start of National Hispanic Heritage Month, which is celebrated each year from September 15 to October 15.
Jungman Neighborhood Library is located on Westheimer Road
