Houston Ballet presents in its 2026-2027 season one of the most celebrated narrative ballets in history: “Manon,” by Sir Kenneth MacMillan, which arrives on stage on September 24 and runs through October 4, 2026.
This is the first show of the new season, and tickets are already on sale to the general public.
This work was created during MacMillan’s tenure as artistic director of the Royal Ballet in London. “Manon” unfolds with a grand score based on the music of Jules Massenet and follows the story of the captivating antiheroine “Manon” and her devoted but impoverished lover, “Des Grieux.”
Both are drawn into a world of luxury, temptation and heartbreak, tracing a path that runs from the brutal streets of Paris to the swamps of Louisiana. First performed by Houston Ballet in 1994, the work became a cornerstone of the company’s repertoire before its final staging in 2015. Its return marks a long-awaited reunion with Houston audiences.
