The announcement of the death of Abraham Quintanilla Jr. in Corpus Christi caused a shock in the music industry and among Selena’s fans. And with only months to go before the singer’s death anniversary reaches 31 years, her father has passed away.
The news began to be shared through a post made by AB Quintanilla on his social media. “With great sorrow I inform you that my father has died today,” the music producer wrote.
Afterwards, the family published an official statement to report Quintanilla’s death, who passed away at the age of 86, and who was the principal architect of Selena and Los Dinos’ career.
“As a father and representative of Selena and Los Dinos, Abraham played an essential role in the development of his children’s talents and in helping to share their music with the world,” the statement reads. They share that “he remained committed to honoring Selena’s legacy.”
At the same time, the family asked for privacy in this moment of mourning. It was reported that he was mourned in the same place where Selena’s funerals were held and laid to rest in Seaside Cemetery, where his daughter rests.
