Carín León Wins a Grammy and Starts 2026 with Great Success

In Los Angeles, Hermosillo shone once again on the musical map after his multidiamond star, Carín León, conquered for the second consecutive year the Grammy Award for “Best Contemporary Mexican Music Album” (including Tejano) for “Palabra de To’s (Seca)” at the 68th ceremony of these awards.

This is the second victory for the Sonoran-born artist at the Grammys and the second award for “Palabra de To’s (Seca).” The first came in November when it won in the category of “Best Contemporary Mexican Music Album” at the 2025 Latin Grammys, where it was also nominated for “Album of the Year.”

Additionally, the collaboration with Maluma, “Si Tú Me Vieras,” received a nomination for “Best Regional Mexican Song” at the same ceremony.

“Thank you to the Academy for this second Grammy for Best Album of Mexican Music,” León said after the victory.

“To be honest, receiving a prize like this again is something that stays with you forever. This recognition is not just mine. It is from Sonora, from the people who believe in music made with truth, from the musicians who stay up late with me and from everyone who continues betting on our roots without losing who we are,” he shared.

“Palabra de To’s (Seca)” is the extended version of his acclaimed album “Palabra de To’s,” originally recorded in Hermosillo, Sonora.

This edition includes four unreleased tracks, among which stand out two stellar collaborations: with Latin superstars Maluma on “Si Tú Me Vieras” and with Alejandro Fernández on “Me Está Doliendo.”

The production cemented León as the global ambassador of Mexican Music by bringing together 28 renowned composers, mostly Mexican, under the curatorship of Edgar Barrera, winner of the Latin Grammy as “Composer and Producer of the Year.”

This new victory at the Grammys reinforces Carín León’s influence in the Anglophone market, a territory in which he has carved his path in recent years with performances on historic stages such as the Grand Ole Opry and the Houston Rodeo, and with collaborations that transcend linguistic and musical borders with artists such as Kacey Musgraves, Kane Brown and Leon Bridges.

“Thanks to my family, who have always stood firm; to my team, who have walked with me through the good times and the bad; and above all to the public, who sings these songs as if they were theirs. Mexican music is more alive than ever, and today we must celebrate it in a big way. From the heart: thank you, and may the music continue to resonate,” says the singer.

This is Carín’s first recognition of 2026, a year that figures as historic. In March, the singer will bring to his hometown Hermosillo, Sonora, the first world-class music festival, La Cura Fest. Created by the performer, who also oversaw the musical curatorship of the event, La Cura Fest will bring to the Sonoran desert stars such as Alejandro Sanz, Jelly Roll, Kany García, among others.

Furthermore, in September Carín will make history in the United States by becoming the first Latino to perform at the Sphere in Las Vegas with a limited series of concerts produced by AEG Presents.
