Updated October 9, 2026

Several road closures in Houston will affect freeways and major connections from Friday night to Monday morning, including full closures on I-69 Southwest and I-610 North Loop.

The Houston TranStar construction schedule also includes restrictions on the I-10 Katy Freeway and the I-45 Gulf Freeway. Closures are subject to change or cancellation due to weather, emergency work, or other conditions.

I-69 will close completely between Hazard and Greenbriar until Monday

I-69 Southwest southbound will be completely closed between Hazard Street and Greenbriar Drive from 9:00 p.m. Friday, October 9 to 5:00 a.m. Monday.

Traffic should take exit 126B to Shepherd Drive and continue to the on-ramp to Greenbriar to re-enter I-69.

Northbound, five inner lanes of I-69 between Westpark Tollway/Westpark Drive and South Rice Avenue will close from 9:00 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday, October 10. The two outer lanes toward the connections with I-610 will remain open during those works.

Another restriction will begin at 7:00 a.m. Saturday: the I-69 South to I-610 West Loop connector ramp will be completely closed until 5:00 a.m. Monday.

The detour directs traffic to the Chimney Rock Road exit, where a U-turn must be made to merge onto I-69 North and then use the connection to I-610 South.

I-610 North Loop will close from Irvington to I-45

I-610 North Loop westbound will be completely closed from Irvington Boulevard to I-45 North from 9:00 p.m. Friday to 5:00 a.m. Monday.

The connection from I-610 West to I-45 South will also close during the same period.

Traffic will be directed to I-45 North, continue to Crosstimbers Street and make a U-turn to merge onto I-45 South and access I-610 again.

I-10 will close completely between Heights and Oxford on Saturday night

I-10 Katy Freeway eastbound will be closed between Heights Boulevard and Oxford Street from 9:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10 to 5:00 a.m. Sunday, October 11.

All eastbound traffic must exit at Studemont Street and continue on the service road. The ramp from Heights Boulevard will allow re-entry to I-10 after the work zone.

Additionally, two outer eastbound lanes of I-10 remain closed between I-45 Gulf/Hogan Street and Studemont Street due to the I-10 elevation project over White Oak Bayou and related work on the Studemont Street bridge.

The I-10 eastbound to I-45 North connection remains completely closed until further notice.

The I-10 HOV closure begins Friday night

The HOV lanes on I-10 between Franklin Street and Studemont Street will close in both directions starting at 9:00 p.m. Friday, October 9. Unlike the weekend temporary closures, this restriction is part of a long-term phase of the White Oak Bayou project.

I-45 will close the exit toward Spur 5 on Saturday

The exit from I-45 Gulf in the southbound direction toward Spur 5 South will be completely closed on Saturday, October 10 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The detour continues on I-45 South to the US 90A/South Wayside Drive exit. From the service road, the route follows South Wayside Drive and Old Spanish Trail to Spur 5.

Other work will continue after the weekend

I-69 Southwest also maintains nightly closures of three alternate northbound lanes between Beltway 8-West and Newcastle Drive through the morning of Friday, October 16.

Southbound, three alternate lanes between Edloe Street and Beltway 8-West will also close at night through October 16, along with restrictions on several entrance and exit ramps.

The Houston TranStar schedule is updated as construction plans change. The Houston District Public Information Office receives inquiries about closures at 713-802-5076.
