The restrictions at IAH affect JFK Boulevard southbound, near the Marriott hotel. Vehicles exiting from terminals A and B will encounter detours toward Will Clayton Parkway.
Road work at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston will reduce the number of lanes available on JFK Boulevard southbound, near the Marriott hotel, from the night of Monday, October 12, 2026 to Friday, October 16, 2026.
The restriction mainly affects drivers exiting from terminals A and B. Houston Airports cautions about potential delays and has established signage directing traffic toward Will Clayton Parkway.
Work at IAH began on Monday at 10 p.m. and will continue throughout the week. The airport has not specified how many lanes will remain open or at what time the work will end on Friday.
JFK Boulevard will have fewer lanes available southbound
The lane reduction concentrates on the stretch of JFK Boulevard that passes near the Houston Airport Marriott hotel, in the vicinity of terminals A and B.
Vehicles traveling in that area will encounter temporary signage directing traffic toward Will Clayton Parkway. The alert refers to southbound traffic and does not establish a complete closure of JFK Boulevard.
The airport has not indicated that all terminals are equally affected. It has also not announced a full closure of any entrance or exit at IAH due to these works.
Drivers exiting from terminals A and B will have detours toward Will Clayton
The detours signposted toward Will Clayton Parkway are aimed primarily at those leaving terminals A and B. The exact route will depend on the signs placed during the works.
The lane reduction may increase the time needed to exit the airport after picking up passengers or removing a vehicle from the parking lot.
Houston Airports will have additional police personnel to manage traffic and keep the flow moving.
The IAH operational alert maintains the warning of possible delays until Friday, October 16.
Work at IAH will continue during preparation for the new Terminal B
Crews will work continuously to complete repairs as Houston Airports prepares to open the new Terminal B facilities.
The transformation of that terminal also maintains changes in United Airlines passenger processing. Those with flights from gates B3 to B31 must check in, drop their luggage, and pass TSA security in Terminal C, before using the Skyway to the Terminal B gates.
The parking garages for terminals A/B and C/D/E remain open during the project, according to Houston Airports.
