Man Detained at Hobby Airport After Delta Flight Incident

Delta Flight Incident at Hobby Airport: A Man Detained for Disorderly Conduct. No Injuries, and the Flight Arrived Delayed.

Houston’s William P. Hobby Airport reported an incident on a Delta Air Lines flight in the early hours of Wednesday when a man was detained after a report of “disorderly and illegal” behavior aboard a Delta aircraft, according to the airline and the Houston Police Department (HPD).

According to an HPD spokesperson, the department received a call around 5:35 a.m. because “someone attempted to breach a cabin.” The man was subsequently detained at the airport, he said. A Delta spokesperson, however, stated that the passenger approached crew members and other passengers, but did not touch or attempt to access the cockpit.

What is Known About the Delta Flight Incident?

Delta said that the passenger “displayed disorderly and illegal behavior” toward other passengers and toward the flight crew. The airline did not detail which actions prompted the intervention, but reiterated that safety is its priority.

For its part, HPD indicated that officers responded after the report related to a possible attempt to breach a cabin. After the intervention, the man was detained at Hobby Airport.

What Delta and the Houston Police Say

Delta explained that it can confirm the passenger approached crew members and passengers during the flight, but maintained that there was no contact nor an attempt to enter the cockpit.

The Houston Police Department spokesperson noted that, when officers arrived at the airport, no injuries were immediately reported. He also indicated that there was no additional information available at that time about the identity of the detained man.

Passengers, Crew and Flight Delay

Delta said that 85 passengers and three crew members were aboard the flight. The airline identified the route as Flight 2557.

After the incident on Delta’s flight, the plane continued its itinerary, albeit with a delay. Delta reported that the departure occurred later and that the aircraft was scheduled to arrive in Atlanta with about a 90-minute delay. Online flight information showed the aircraft landed in Atlanta around 8:45 a.m. Central Time.
