Mother’s Day is a celebration in which we are all involved; it is not only the day we celebrate the being who gave us life, it is also a day of gatherings, of hugs, and for many perhaps one of the few opportunities during the year to see our mothers and also greet our families.
I think we can all agree that there is nothing like a mother’s love, as a common saying goes. And that is the reality: in our lives there is a person who influences us, that person is our mother. Those who for some reason do not have the fortune of having their mothers nearby have at least a mother figure who, perhaps, does not substitute her love, but does fill a space in their lives.
Here in the United States, the second Sunday of the month is Mother’s Day, and for other countries it is May 10th, and this year, coincidentally, it is the same day.
As soon as May begins, many are already getting ready with their gifts, or at least already thinking about how they will celebrate their mom.
It could be with flowers, a piece of jewelry, a dinner; of course, all according to one’s means, but everyone wants to celebrate their mother. I include myself.
I’m talking about this because in my circle of friends and I are keeping an eye on the arrival of Mother’s Day. We try to be prepared to honor our mothers. Whether with a gift that also varies depending on the possibilities.
If there is something I must highlight, it is that, fortunately, in this country we have the opportunity to work throughout the year, to be able to give a token of gratitude and that our mothers feel celebrated.
If your mother is far away, don’t forget to give her a call; now technology allows us to be close even if only through devices. Fortunately, technology now gives us the opportunity to be much closer to our mothers, even at a distance.
You can dedicate a song among those such as “Amor Eterno” by Juan Gabriel, “Eres Tú” by Carlos Rivera or “Amor de Madre” by Aventura. Other options could be “Te amo, mamá” by Marco Antonio Solís, “A ella le debo mi amor” by Laura Pausini or “Mi primer amor” by Grupo Pesado, among others.
Whatever the case, the important thing is to make that day unique and special for all the mothers of the world. We must honor them and celebrate them, and for those who no longer have them in this earthly plane, we must remember them.
There are many ways we can make that day very special for our mothers, and for the mothers who are also in our surroundings, whether they are sisters, wives, cousins, but we must also recognize them for this profession that life has granted them and that most of them do in the best possible way.
Don’t forget that, from a beautiful flower to a song, you can brighten that special day. Whether the day is celebrated here in this country or simply May 10th.
So, if you haven’t prepared yet, figure out how you will celebrate Mom.
