The actor Miguel Rodarte is the star of “La Banda”, ViX’s new series, a story that blends dark humor and drama to explore how far people can go when they feel they have nothing to lose. Although told from a humorous perspective, the plot drives the characters on a roller coaster of emotions to achieve their goal.
The central character is “Rafael”, played by Rodarte, an employee of “Sanitarios Reyes”; one day the owner names him as his successor and reveals his intention to leave the company to his employees. However, his sudden death and the arrival of his son “Andy”, an irresponsible heir, put the future of the company and the entire community of “Valle Soleado” at risk.
Then is when “La Banda” begins and in an interview the actor shared details about this leading role
Thus, amid betrayals, divided loyalties and constant mistakes, “La Banda” will face extreme situations where every decision could be the last. That said, with a vibe that identifies us as Latinos and with which they will make us laugh in each of the episodes.
“I think it’s highlighting and elevating Mexican humor, where we even have the capacity to laugh at death itself, we have that capacity for joy, delight and enjoyment.” I think that’s taking it to the extreme, pushing it to one side; a mime laughs at the clichés and says: ‘Oh my God, why am I laughing at this? It’s burning me, but what a laugh it gives me? I think that’s the part that we Mexicans and Latinos also really like.”
The cast also includes Paulina Gaitán, Tessa Ia and Aldo Escalante alongside Fernando Bonilla, Raúl Briones and the special participation of Juan Carlos Colombo and Jesús Ochoa.
“If more elements are added, more actors show up around episode four or five,” Rodarte told us in advance.
In addition, he shared the importance of having a cast where everyone seeks the project’s common good.
“They are actors who love to work and it shows because you can see how each one performs their character in a masterful way. So it’s enthusiasm and motivation and it simply pushes you to want to bring your character to a precision you know will reach the audience. It’s like a virtuous circle that forms throughout filming. And that also has a lot to do with the human element of the actors and the rest of the crew,” he concluded.
The series is already available on ViX.
