Breaking news, national media report that Donald Trump has removed Pam Bondi, the Attorney General, from her post. This is the second major dismissal in the past weeks within Trump’s cabinet, following the firing of Christi Noem, who was Secretary of Homeland Security.
According to Reuters, this firing comes amid growing frustration with her performance, including her handling of the investigation files related to the late financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, with whom Trump has been linked.
Trump had also apparently shown frustration that Bondi did not act quickly enough to prosecute critics and opponents whom he wished to see indicted on criminal charges.
Bondi during this time showed total loyalty to Trump, which is why, in a farewell message, she said that she was a “great American patriot and a loyal friend,” and noted that she would go on to take a position in the private sector.
She announced that Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, her former personal lawyer, would lead the Department of Justice on an interim basis.
