Houston closed the month of May to the rhythm of Carín León‘s music, who brought his tour “De Sonora para el mundo” to the Toyota Center. Seeing the Sonoran singer on stage becomes a full musical experience. Not for nothing has he become one of the leading exponents of Spanish-language music.
Although his roots and his hallmark are regional Mexican, the sounds keep evolving and now he manages to stage a show that could be considered international; that said, without abandoning the hits that have propelled him to fame.
In Houston, the artist showcased his talent by interpreting an extensive repertoire that stretched over two and a half hours.
Dressed elegantly, he appeared on stage around 8:30 p.m. with his distinctive hat and to the musical notes of the song “A través del vaso,” and from there he continued with songs such as “Me la aventé”, “Secuelas de amor”, “Cómo lo hice yo”, “Según quién” and “Me está doliendo,” to name a few.
One thing we cannot overlook is Carín’s interaction with the audience; perhaps that is one of the secrets behind why his concerts are a total success. There are artists who connect with people, but he manages to get into the very heart of those present.
The night continued and the thousands of attendees who filled the venue did not take their seats; they remained on their feet admiring the artist, applauding and singing along to his songs.
“Si tú me vieras”, “Ahí estabas tú”, “Te quiero” by Hombres G, “Cuando la vida”, “Vivir sin aire” by Maná and “Otra como tú” by the Italian Eros Ramazzotti.
A complete concert, with first-class production and with a select group of musicians ranging from the traditional band to the orchestra, elements that make this a true experience for the spectators.
León’s proposal has captivated even the most demanding fans of regional Mexican music, who, at the very least, find themselves dancing to songs with tropical, country or ballad fusions.
This is demonstrated in the songs he performed that night such as “Una vida pasada”, “El amor de mi herida”, “Casi oficial”, “Te lo agradezco”, “Qué más puedo pedir” and “En la misma cama”.
“Talento de televisión” also was a track that got everyone dancing.
Additionally, Carín treated us to a Joan Sebastian medley that earned him an ovation. There is no doubt that he continues to highlight important figures such as the “King of jaripeo”; not for that does he himself call himself the “soldier of the regional.”
As the concert’s peak, songs like “La morrita” and his indispensable hit “La boda del Huitlacoche” were performed, not missing “El tóxico”, “Desde que te tengo” and he closed with the already classic “Primera cita”. These were part of the many hits he performed in Houston, leaving the audience satisfied.
