The Houston Symphony has a history of more than one hundred years and, in what is its second century as one of the leading orchestras in the United States, celebrates the music and the diversity with which our city has grown. An example of the openness this institution has is the concerts it will give alongside another legend of music. On August 28 and 29, Pepe Aguilar will perform with the symphony to present a repertoire of classic themes that have defined his musical career, which spans several decades.
Aguilar is recognized as the voice of an entire generation of Mexican music and as an icon of the Latin American music industry. With more than 20 billion streams on digital platforms, 15 million albums sold, 4 Grammy Awards, 5 Latin Grammy Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, he has captivated audiences around the world thanks to his powerful voice and dynamic performances, honoring tradition while continually evolving the genre.
Additionally, he has presented concerts in this format in cities such as Los Angeles, where the Space City audience is already waiting for these two performances, where they seek to hear the voice of the son of Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre, artists who left a mark on the culture of the Aztec country.
Pepe Aguilar is recognized as the voice of an entire generation of Mexican music and as an icon of the Latin American music industry.
Throughout his career, he has released more than 30 solo albums and nearly 38 in total, including collaborations and reissues. Now his hits such as “Por mujeres como tú”, “Mi credo” and songs that have been part of the Aguilar repertoire will sound on the Jones Hall stage under the baton of guest conductor Enrico López-Yañez, who will lead the Houston Symphony with a blend of its sounds with the traditional mariachi.
It is worth noting that for several years Pepe has made the Houston area his home, as has his family; from here he travels to bring Mexican music to stages around the world and now he will bring it to the heart of our city.
March also made history by performing at the famous Houston Rodeo, managing to draw more than 60,000 fans who enjoyed his participation on that internationally renowned stage.
Now, with two nights at Jones Hall, he will once again deliver his music to Houston’s audience. Tickets are already on sale at www.houstonsymphony.org/performance-calendar.
