The month of September is lived with great pride; it is Hispanic Heritage Month, which commemorates the independence of various Latin American countries and recognizes the contributions of Hispanics in this country.
At Discovery Green Park, each year a show is presented that highlights Mexican culture and traditions and invites the Hispanic community to celebrate the diversity of this great city.
The traditional night of “Mexico in the Heart,” an event where attendees are immersed in the colors, music and festive atmosphere of the Aztec country to commemorate the patriotic month, as September is commonly known.
This year is no exception, and, added to the already inaugurated exhibition “Fantastic Animals from México: Alebrijes and Nahuales”: the show “Mexico in the heart” will be presented on September 26.
That night attendees will immerse themselves in the images and sounds of Mexico with this group that includes mariachis and folkloric ballet dancers. More than 70 artists create a magical evening, with colorful costumes, music and culture.

The tour is presented by the North American Institute for Mexican Advancement (NAIMA), an organization, based in the state of Illinois, that promotes the active participation of the Mexican community so that they achieve a better life in the United States and North America, with a broader reach in the economic, social, political and cultural aspects, so that, in a responsible and participatory way, they have greater integration into society and not just assimilating into it.
They seek that everyone, united by origins and values, can work on a common agenda with a better understanding of our needs and implementing programs and initiatives that create opportunities for development and progress for this and future generations.
And the arts and traditions are an important part of their foundations, which is why the annual journey with this “Mexico in the Heart” program continues.
Organizers recommend that people arrive early to secure their seat because only the first 1,700 people to arrive will be able to sit on the hill in front of the stage. Guests should arrive early to secure a wristband that will allow them to enter and exit the area.
RSVP on the park’s website does not guarantee that you will receive a wristband. There will also be additional seating available on Jones Lawn, accompanied by a giant screen to watch the event. Glass containers are not allowed, nor bringing alcoholic beverages.
