Discovery Green to Host Free Selena Movie and Night Market on September 19

Flea by Night will be open from 6 to 10 p.m. and the Selena Screen on the Green show will begin at 7 p.m. Attendees may bring blankets, camping chairs, and food.

Discovery Green will host a free market night and film on Saturday, September 19, 2026, featuring Flea by Night and a free outdoor screening of Selena in downtown Houston.

The market will start at 6 p.m. and stay open until 10 p.m., while the movie is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m.. Both activities will take place inside Discovery Green, in different areas of the park.

Park entry and the movie admission are free.

Flea by Night will be open from 6 to 10 p.m.

Flea by Night will set up in Maconda’s Grove with vendors, artists, small businesses and local creators.

The market brings together handmade goods, vintage items, plants, recycled or repurposed pieces, art and other products from vendors in the Houston area.

The activity will start at 6 p.m. and run until 10 p.m., overlapping for several hours with the film.

Selena will start at 7 p.m. on the Anheuser-Busch Stage

The film Selena will be screened as part of Screen on the Green from 7 to 9 p.m. on the Anheuser-Busch Stage.

The 1997 film chronicles the life and career of Selena Quintanilla, the Texas-born Mexican-American singer who achieved national and international success before her death in 1995.

The screening will take place outdoors in front of the park stage and screen, with the Houston skyline as a backdrop.

Audience members may bring blankets, chairs and food

Discovery Green allows attendees to bring blankets, camping chairs, snacks or a picnic for Screen on the Green.

Alcoholic beverages brought from outside or glass containers are not allowed.

Inside the park, there will be food and drinks available for purchase at Grove Market & Park Provisions, including beer and wine for adults.

Central Avenue Garage remains closed to the public

Discovery Green is located at 1500 McKinney St., Houston, TX 77010.

Parking around the park will be more limited than usual due to construction at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Central Avenue Garage remains closed to the public.

Alternatives include Avenue North Garage, at 701 Avenida de las Americas, and surface parking lots such as 1515 Rusk St. Rates vary.

There are also metered parking spaces on nearby streets, though Discovery Green warns that on-street parking will be limited. The McKinney parking lane next to the park has been converted into a bike lane and there are still spaces available on La Branch.

The giant alebrijes will also be at Discovery Green

Arriving before the market and the film, visitors will also find in the park the exhibition Fantastic Animals from Mexico: Alebrijes and Nahuales, open from September 15.
