HOUSTON, Texas — Free tickets for the covered seating at El Grito at Miller 2026 will be available starting at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 14, one day before the Mexican Independence Day celebration at Miller Outdoor Theatre.
The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15 at the theatre located at 6000 Hermann Park Drive, Houston, TX 77030. The El Grito ceremony will be followed by a performance by Mariachi Herencia de México, a group nominated twice for the Latin GRAMMY.
Admission to the show is free, but the access system varies depending on the area chosen.
The tickets for the covered area go on sale at 10 a.m. on Monday
Seats under Miller Outdoor Theatre’s covered area require a reservation. Online tickets will be available from 10 a.m. on Monday, September 14 and may be requested until noon on Tuesday, September 15, as long as there is still availability.
The limit for this event is four tickets per person aged 16 and older.
There will also be reserved tickets for in-person pickup at the Miller Outdoor Theatre box office. The box office will open one hour before the show, at 6:30 p.m.
Those with a reserved seat must occupy it at least 10 minutes before the start. Any seats that remain unoccupied may be released for others when the performance begins.

The Hill will have open access without a ticket
People who do not obtain a seat under the covered area can still attend from the Miller Outdoor Theatre Hill, where access is open and no reservation is required.
The show will be held outdoors and is scheduled to continue even if it rains.
The program will last approximately one hour and 10 minutes.
Mariachi Herencia de México will headline the celebration
The El Grito ceremony will be followed by a performance by Mariachi Herencia de México, a 14-member group that represents a new bicultural generation of mariachi in the United States.
The group has received two Latin GRAMMY nominations in the ranchera and mariachi category and has six albums. Their Houston performance will also include a tribute to Juan Gabriel.
The show will also be streamed live for those who cannot attend the theater.
Also on September 15, another free activity linked to Mexican culture will begin at Discovery Green: the exhibition Fantastic Animals from Mexico: Alebrijes and Nahuales, featuring eight monumental sculptures inspired by folk art and Mesomerican folklore.
