Washington. The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that it had a year of record achievements, with more than 2.5 million illegal immigrants leaving the United States.
Since January 20, 2025, DHS enforcement operations have resulted in more than 605 thousand deportations. The DHS has prioritized the removal of the most criminal illegal immigrants as part of the Trump Administration’s efforts to restore public order in the United States.
Moreover, thanks to the comprehensive efforts of DHS law enforcement, 1.9 million illegal immigrants have voluntarily self-deported since January 2025. “We encourage all illegal immigrants to use the CBP Home app to obtain a free flight home for Christmas and $1,000,” DHS said in a press release.
“The Trump Administration is breaking historical records with more than 2.5 million undocumented immigrants leaving the United States. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has deported more than 605 thousand and another 1.9 million have self-deported. Since January 20, DHS has arrested more than 595 thousand undocumented immigrants,” said Deputy Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “Undocumented immigrants are listening to our message to leave now. They know that if they do not, we will find them, arrest them and they will never return.”
Tom Homan, who ran border policy for the Donald Trump administration, known as the border czar, asserted that deportations surpassed 600 thousand during the year.
In a press conference alongside the commissioner of the Office of Customs and Border Protection, Rodney S. Scott, in front of the border wall between San Diego and Tijuana (Mexico), the czar defended the government’s immigration results and described the border as the “safest in the history” of that nation.
Homan harshly criticized the jurisdictions designed to protect immigrants, known as “sanctuary laws,” which hamper the agents’ work.
«Sanctuary cities slow us down… they are less efficient and they are dangerous,” he said.
In addition, he urged undocumented immigrants living in the United States to “go home.”
«Leave the country on your own and try to return through a legal program, because otherwise we will have to search for you, find you, and deport you».
