A Hispanic Astronaut Joins NASA’s Artemis III Crew

NASA introduced the four astronauts for the next mission of the Artemis lunar program, marking the start of a year-long or longer period of training specific to the Artemis III crew.

They are slated to launch toward low Earth orbit next year to test rendezvous and docking procedures with the lunar landing modules under construction by SpaceX and Blue Origin; a fundamental milestone before the United States can again send astronauts to the Moon to land in 2028.

The NASA Administrator, Jared Isaacman, announced the crew members at the Johnson Space Center in Houston: Commander Randy Bresnik, Pilot Luca Parmitano, Mission Specialist Frank Rubio, and Mission Specialist Andre Douglas, while Bob Hines was designated as a standby crew member.
