Christian Meier and His More Natural Side on “That’s the Law”

With a new album under his belt, Christian Meier returns to the music scene. This marks his sixth solo album and shows a very original facet in each of the songs.

The title is “Así es la ley”; it features Meier’s inspiration in the lyrics of all the tracks that make up the album. The album’s name derives from a song of the same title included in this production.

“Every law always has a way to turn it around, to not follow it, to break it, and it depends on us whether we can afford to do it or have the right for it not to be done to us. Between the law and the trick of turning it around lies the game of life,” he added.

The album gathers nine tracks, four singles released since 2025 and five unreleased songs that were conceived to be heard as a whole, building an experience that unfolds from start to finish.

“I wanted to make an album that sounds very organic, that sounds like the music performed live in the studio without a lot of machinery, without many computer elements and sequences. We brought together a group of musicians with whom we could bring these songs to life.”

Each track develops its own identity and nuance, but all revolve around the universe of rock, from ballad to pop rock with folk and soul influences, reflecting the influences most present in the artist’s life.

It is an album that is very based on melody, where the layers of the song are stripped down and only the essential remains; then there must be a lot of melody, it cannot be too conceptual. It was enough to have simply drums, bass, guitar and a keyboard to make these songs and that is what I have tried to do with it,” he shared.

In this stage of life, Meier shares his personal experiences through his songs, but he also shares what he has learned in the musical environment.

“As time goes by, we accumulate experiences in life, which means we can tell more and more stories, but we learn more about ourselves. Also, we absorb more from the environment, listen to what sounds and what other colleagues, artists and musicians in other countries do, and that influences.”

He also said that he aligns with the changes in the music industry, but he also keeps a bit of what that era was like years ago.

When you make music in today’s modern times, many artists record a song and then release more. I am a believer in recording the album as a whole; I entered the studio when I thought I already had a list of songs to make an album and tell a story,” he said.

I am riding the industry’s train and how it works today. One has to go with the times; the only thing I have kept is that I did not enter the studio until having the complete album; that I did want to maintain, to enter the studio and come out with the album ready.”

“Así es la ley” comes with an impressive visual proposal, in the videos that are already on the singer’s YouTube channel.
