The Orange Show Center for Visionary Art presents the Houston Art Car Parade Weekend, a weekend full of activities that culminates in the colorful and original parade. And indeed, for 39 years, our city has shown that art does not belong solely to walls, and talented artists bring it to automobiles, creating unique pieces.
The events will take place from April 9 to 12, 2026, and the iconic Houston Art Car Parade will be on Saturday, April 11.
This year will feature the participation of more than 250 moving artworks unique of their kind. The parade attracts more than 315,000 spectators annually, making it Houston’s largest free cultural event.
This four-day celebration transforms the city into a canvas of color, creativity and community, with the parade serving as the weekend’s culminating performance.
As mentioned, attendance remains free and open to the public, reinforcing the Orange Show’s mission to make art accessible to everyone.
However, those seeking a more exclusive way to participate, VIPit —the parade’s official fundraising event— offers reserved seating and first-class experiences; highlighting that the funds raised are directed to supporting Art Car programming throughout the year.
The Orange Show announced that the 2026 Artist Spotlight will be Phillip Pyle II, a visual artist, graphic designer and photographer whose work addresses issues of race and popular culture through the lens of graphic design.
Known for his bold compositions and multi-layered storytelling, Pyle’s artistic practice reflects the same fearless originality that defines the Art Car movement itself, making his selection a natural extension of the parade’s spirit.
The parade will feature this year’s Grand Marshals, who are footballer Brian Ching and singer Kam Franklin, representing two fundamental pillars of Houston’s cultural identity: sport and music.
Given that Houston will host FIFA World Cup matches this summer, the selection of Ching underscores the city’s moment of global football prominence.
“They were selected for their positive contributions as residents of Houston; both are community leaders dedicated and committed to fostering creativity through music and sport, thereby helping to build a happier and healthier city,” stated Jack Massing, Executive Director of the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art.
