Carín León gave his followers a special gift during these festive days with the release of his second December album, “Chapayeka (Puro Chucky)”. The production is now available on all digital platforms.
The surprising release occurred a week after revealing the original version of the album, “Chapayeka”, a lengthy work of 20 songs that brought together 15 guest artists and served as a tribute to traditional Mexican music.
In this album, Carín includes 17 of the greatest Mexican music hits reimagined together with his guests and Antonio Zepeda, who was in charge of production. “Mi único camino”, released in 1978 by the northern group Los Cadetes de Linares, is the first single of this new version.
Just like the original version, the production pays homage to the Mexican vernacular language and incorporates the term ‘puro Chucky’, an Hermosillo expression in the culinary world that denotes the high quality of the offering.
“Very excited to be able to share it with you, I hope you enjoy it,” wrote the singer on his social media about this release.
The extensive work, of 37 tracks in total, was recorded completely live in the La Matanza neighborhood, in Hermosillo, Sonora, Carín’s hometown and emblematic place of his childhood.
The release is accompanied by a documentary, which is available on Carín’s YouTube channel.
This was directed by Pablo Celaya and Oliver Rendón under the production of Kran Rosas; the piece includes interviews and unseen footage about Carín’s life, one of the most influential Mexican artists today.
Fans and the general public will be able to learn details about Carín’s life and career in Hermosillo and his path toward global stardom.
“Chapayeka (En Vivo)” and “Chapayeka (Puro Chucky)” are part of a Christmas tradition that Carín León established five years ago: giving his fans a year-end gift in the form of a new music production.
With the albums, Carín closes the best year of his career, where he won his first Grammy Award, his fourth Latin Grammy, the release of “Palabra de To’s (Seca)”, the deluxe version of his December 2024 album “Palabra de To’s”, nominated for the 2026 Grammys, and high-caliber bilingual collaborations that cement him as a benchmark of contemporary Mexican music in the United States.
Carín has established himself as one of the most influential figures in contemporary Latin music since the start of his solo career in 2018. With a style that fuses regional Mexican music with a wide variety of genres such as pop, rock and other global sounds.
